Wanted: a cat named Pepper
Wanted: a cat named Pepper
I was going to title this, "I'm going to be a Mommy!!" but I figured that might cause too much of an uproar and perhaps send the universe some subliminal message in regards to my uterus...None of that, I have to do it the "right" way...lol...
Sooo....we're going to adopt a cat from PSPCA in Philly. Her name is Pepper and she is mucho adorable. She looks silly and we like that.
I emailed the contact and there was something mentioned about an application. I've never particularly enjoyed applications, they are usually the cause of anxiety for me.
Hopefully they won't reject us...This will my first pet ever in my life. I'm a little scared...okay ALOT...and excited...
Awww, guys...I might be a Mommy soon!! We're gonna have so much fun together: she's going to purr "Conchhhitaaa", she's gonna snuggle in my lap, we're gonna harass Daddy....awww...

Pepper Ann
I would like to take a moment to welcome a new member of my family, Pepper Ann. The fiance and I went to pick her up this afternoon from her foster family. As soon as I realized I was really about to become a pet owner, I started freaking out. I've never owned a pet before, unless you count the earthworm I got from school that year when I was really young. Its okay if you laugh, my fiance laughed as well.
If you don't count my earthworm, (may he RIP since he died from aphyxiation from cornflakes), Pepper is my first real pet. I don't know squat diddly about cats. Thanks to all you lovely ladies who posted your tips on my previous post.
After much hemming and hawing, I finally called the foster mother to ask about a carrying case for Pepper. Thankfully she had one, so we went to get her other essentials; kitty litter pan and litter, bowls for food, and a few toys. I wanted to get her catnip but the FI thought I should wait.
I also decided that I should clean the bathroom so it would be sparkly clean for its new occupant. I'm sure she appreciated my effort.
Finally we went on the subway to pick up the new addition to our family. The foster mother (who is a student like me!) lived in a shady part of town but we found the address ok. Pepper was there with two other little kittens and they were all so adorable playing together. I got a very nice welcome from one of Pepper's friends who liked the tie in the back of my shirt and proceeded to stick me in the back with her claws. Ouch!
We must've asked the foster mother a million questions before we left, but we had to make sure we weren't bringing home a serial killer or something. I was so sad to place Pepper in the cardboard carrying box but it was the only way we could take her on the subway.
When we got home, we placed Pepper in the bathroom where she proceeded to hide in the corner but eventually she came out after much coaxing and kissy noises from me. I didn't really like to close her off in the bathroom so I begged the FI to let her out so she could explore her new home.
We tried to block off the hallway but she climbed over the extra bed in the hallway! I didn't think she was old enough to do that, but what do I know about cats!! Finally we said to hell with the barricade and let her roam free. She was fine at first until she heard the garbage disposal and the blender (I was in the middle of cooking), after which she scampered back to her room.
My highlight of the day was when my fiance and Pepper rubbed their heads together. It was the cutest thing ever!
I'm pretty sure I heard her purr "Momma"...
Welcome home Pepper Ann!!
